Meals at Work
Staff restaurant, works canteen, colleague café or refreshment facility, call it what you will – for ease I just refer to it as meals at work, because when all said and done that is what you are providing!
Very different from a café or restaurant where you visit for pleasure and through choice in your leisure time the restaurant at work fills a different need and requirement.
As the customer it is somewhere to have a break from your workspace, engage in a more relaxed way with your colleagues and recharge the batteries.
As the employer providing and funding the facility it is just one of many overheads costs. But more than that it is a welfare benefit for your employees. One which can improve morale, assist recruitment or staff retention and increase productivity by helping to create an environment where your team feel motivated.
With all of this in mind it is imperative that the facility provides great value for everyone and achieves maximum use per head of population on site.
I can help you get better value from the investment by:
Ensuring menu content is fit for purpose and effectively costed
Review menu complexity and identify service killers
Assessing skills and identify training needs
Review supply chain in respect of quality and price
Evaluate processes to create a more streamlined operation
Assess kitchen design and impact on operating costs
Redefine the customer journey
Maximise sales potential
Evaluate the cost per employee benefit
